Frequently asked questions
If your question isn't here, email us. A person answers.
What information do I need to order a background check?
Just three things: the subject's first and last name, their year of birth, and their Social Security number. If we need anything further to complete the search, we'll email you.
How long does a report take?
Most reports are delivered within 2–3 business days. A report covers every county of residence we find, and some county courts are slower than others or require records to be pulled by hand. Where that happens we email you a status update rather than leaving you waiting.
How much does it cost?
$29.95 for a comprehensive national criminal record check. One flat price, with no subscription, no monthly fee, and no per-county surcharges.
Why not just use an instant background check site?
Instant sites query one commercial database and show you the raw matches. In roughly half of US states that database holds incarceration records only, meaning no charges, no pending trials, and no not-guilty verdicts. Many records also arrive without a disposition, so you can see that someone was charged but not how the case ended. We run the database search as a starting point, then trace addresses via SSN and search the actual county courts where the records live.
What can I use this report for?
Personal knowledge and general due diligence — vetting someone before a private sale, checking out a new contact or a date, or reviewing your own record. These are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so screening a job applicant or a tenant is a separate process that runs through a consumer reporting agency, with the subject's consent and adverse-action notices. For everything outside that, this is the report you want.
Do I need an account to order?
No. You order as a guest: enter the subject's details, pay, and your report is emailed to the address you provide. There's no account to create and no password to remember.
How is my information protected?
Payment is handled entirely by Stripe, so we never see or store your card number. The subject identifiers you provide are encrypted in our database and are visible only to the staff working your order.
What if you can't find any records?
A clear report showing no records found is a legitimate and often valuable result. It means the searches were run and came back clean. You receive the full report either way, and it is not refundable on the basis that no records were located.
Do you cover the entire United States?
Yes. Coverage is nationwide, which is the point of a national check. People move across state lines and are not likely to volunteer that they have a record somewhere else, so searching broadly is the only reliable way to find one.
